Ladies Night Out on Broadway

October 8th, 2007 by susan j

I am a huge theater fan. In fact, I once saw five Broadway shows in as many days on an action-packed trip to New York City! No surprise that I am super-excited about Ladies Night on Broadway, which is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24. Female patrons get 20% tickets to participating shows (using code WMN07), plus special festivities including drinks, karaoke, gift bags, and more.

Here are my picks among the participating shows.

25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee is a hilarious musical ode to the time-honored tradition of spelling bees. With quirky characters, audience participation, and delightfully hummable songs, Spelling Bee gets an A+ in my book!

A Chorus Line explores the ups and downs of being a Broadway dancer. This musical revival includes show-stopping dancing and beautiful ballets like “What I did for Love” and “At the Ballet.” It truly is a “singular sensation!”

Mamma Mia features over a dozen class Abba tunes including “Dancing Queen,” “Knowing Me, Knowing You,” “Winner Takes It All,” and more. This crowd-pleasing show is set on an exotic Greek island and is sure to have you dancing in the aisles!

The Phantom of the Opera has it all: gorgeous costumes and scenery, a sweeping musical score, and a story filled with romance and suspense. It was the first show I ever saw on Broadway, so if you haven’t seen it, I thoroughly recommend Phantom.
