New York Events for the Week of 10/18
October 15- 21
The first ever Design Week in New York City is now in full swing! A collaboration between Home & Garden magazine with NYC & Company (NYC’s marketing and touring agency), this is a festival celebrating fashion, films, museums, workrooms, gardens and all the other amazing things that the city has to offer. Special guests include Candace Bushnell (author of Sex & the City), Isaac Misrahi, Dean Deluca, and Mario Batali.
October 20 - November 18
The grand opening of Kiku: The Art of the Japanese Chrysanthemum at the New York Botanical Gardens is this Saturday. After 5 years of collaboration with the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in Tokyo, this is the most elaborate flower show ever presented in the Garden in its 116 year history. This Japanese art has never been seen on this scale outside of Japan, so this is certainly an event not to be missed.
October 20-21, 27-28
The Bronx Zoo’s tradition of Boo at the Zoo begins this weekend! Meet creepy creatures like vultures and bats, participate in pumpkin carving demonstrations and hayrides, make your own trick-or-treat bag and even march along in the Halloween parade. Before heading home, be sure to stop by the cafe for a witch’s brew or another spooky snack.
October 15-21
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, there’s always time to treat yourself to Spa Week. This yearly event brings 100 spas in all five boroughs of the city together to offer treatments for only $50!
