The Meadowlands Xanadu Project

Driving the New Jersey Turnpike up to New York City you may have wondered what the giant dome in the distance could possibly be. The real question is, what isn’t the dome. A raceway, a skydiving simulator, a baseball stadium and an indoor ski resort will only be a part of the 4.8 million square foot entertainment, office, hotel and retail complex. Check out some of the highlights of the Meadowlands Xanadu facility that will prove to be a hit for the entire family.
Indoor Skiing- The 250,000 square foot ski area will feature a 140 foot tall run inside a climate controlled dome. The ski area will be open year-round, making it the perfect place to introduce beginners to the sport.
Baseball Stadium- The proposed baseball stadium will be the home to the Bergen Cliff Hawks, a minor league team from New Jersey. The stadium is set to hold 8,000 people and will only be used for baseball purposes.
SkyVenture- A vertical wind tunnel will provide a simulated sky diving experience. This tunnel will allow anyone to fly through the air without fearing for their life.
It’s Sugar!- Straight from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” this candy store will include a 36,000 square-foot city built from candy, a 30-foot chocolate waterfall and a candy museum.
Can’t wait for your adrenaline filled, sugar-coated adventure? This 2 billion dollar complex is set to open in late 2008.

Xanadu! Sounds like a fantasy land for kids-I hear it will be the biggest building ever built in terms of square feet. Just when I thought NJ might make a turn-around in terms of environmental impact, it has to go ahead and build an indoor ski hill. I know it sounds cool, but really? Anyway, I must admit that the candy room sounds pretty amazing.
I am currently working for the New York Kids Club, and while it isn’t an indoor theme park, it offers innovative activity classes for kids 6 months to 12 yrs. in some pretty amazing facilities. It has a rock climbing wall and giant trampoline in addition to tons of gym equipment and a trained and helpful staff. The Kids Club is inviting bloggers in the area to come check it out for themselves and for free on Friday, January 18. For more information check it out at Ooh, this concert sounds like so much fun. And its free too? It is so important for children to become involved in the arts-and fun too. I am working for the New York Kids Club and we are having a free Friday for NYC bloggers and their children on January 18th at our Upper East Side location. The NY Kids Club offers tons of innovative courses for kids like rock-climbing, dance, and, of course, music making! The opportunity allows kids and parents to experience the great facilities and try out new activities they hadn’t in the past.
