New York City is world-renowned for its incredible theater scene. Millions of tourists flock to the Big Apple from all over the world to see shows on the Big White Way (in fact, I had one very memorable theater marathon where I saw Ragtime, Miss Saigon, and four other blockbuster musicals in just six days!).

However, it’s worth noting that there are plenty of funny, inspiring, and otherwise entertaining options playing Off-Broadway, too. These shows feature cutting edge playwrights in intimate venues, emerging actors before they get their big break, and established veterans who are returning to their theatrical roots. Depending on the show, it can be easier (and cheaper) to score tickets, too.
