NYCvisit.com has named the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem the “Cultural Organization for the Month of February!”
The Apollo Theater has been the home of so many incredible performers since opening in 1914 on 125th Street. Its Amateur Night performances include winners like Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Wonder. The theater has launched the careers of countless others, among them are Billie Holliday, Bessie Smith, Michael Jackson, and Lauryn Hill.
In 1983, the theater was given national, city, and state landmark status and still offers an average of six events per week.
Celebrate Black History Month with a historic tour of the building, a stop at the museum store for a special souvenir, and then attend Amateur Night to see the best in up-and-coming talent!
