While you’re in New York City, there’s a definite list of must-sees and plenty of attractions to visit. If it’s your second or third time visiting the city, perhaps you’re in the mood for something new and exciting.

Rick Bell, the head of the Center for Architecture, has put together a list of “10 Great Buildings to See in New York,” and it does not include the Empire State Building. He says, “Everybody knows what the Empire State Building looks like…” so he wanted to include some hidden gems that people might not find on their own.

His list includes the Conde Nast Building, known as the first “green” skyscraper, the Chrysler Building, a superb example of classic Art Deco design, and seemingly unlikely candidates like the Prada store and the SoHo location of Apple. There’s something for everyone on his list, whether you’re a history buff or love the sleek style of modern design.
