Now that Spring’s right around the corner, we’re pleased to announce the re-opening of seasonal attractions in the Big Apple! It’s a great time of year to get out and explore the city when the robins are just starting to hop around Central Park and riding on the outer deck of the Ellis Island Ferry isn’t too, too cold.
First off, check out the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from the ferry that leaves from Battery Park. The ride is a great way to see the city from a different angle and it takes you right to the Immigration Museum where you can trace your ancestors who may have come through the ports in New York.
There’s also the Central Park Movie Sights Tour, a two-hour walking tour that covers spots like the Boathouse Cafe from When Harry Met Sally, the Bandshell from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Bethesda Fountain recently seen in Enchanted. Indulge in your girly side with the Sex and the City Hotspots Tour, where you can see over 40 locations used in the filming of the hit HBO show.
For the more active set, there’s Bike & Roll rentals, offering bicycles for rides all over the city. You can even take a Central Park or Brooklyn Bridge tour for a guided ride.

After a full day of roaming around the expansive Big Apple with your , you’re bound to be hungry. Rather than gambling with your stomach on a random street vendor, Time Out New York has put together a list of …and where to find them.
They start the list off with the quintessential New York cuisine, the pizza. Di Fara Pizza, run by Domenico DeMarco, serves a delectable artichoke pie, covered in their signature sauce, fresh mozzarella, Reggiano, artichokes and fresh herbs. There’s also a Foie Gras Brulee made for foodies at Jean-Georges, steamed Berkshire pork buns at Momofuku Noodle, and arguably the best latte in the city exists at Gorilla Coffee.
To satisfy your sweet tooth, check out Levain Bakery for their gooey-delicious chocolate chip walnut cookies, Bomboloni at Falai Pannetteria or Caffe Falai, and a hazelnut souffle at Capsouto Freres. Mmmmmm!

Color is a beacon of spring, bringing with it a hope among city-dwellers that the skyscrapers won’t be silhouetted against gray skies anymore, and the neighborhood park will soon be full of tiny pink and blue blossoms.
The Museum of Modern Art is currently hosting the exhibit . Featuring the transformation of the usage and myths surrounding color in Renaissance works and where art has gone since then, it’s a great way to understand the dynamics of color through the eyes of the artist. The show’s description reads, “Color Chart celebrates a paradox: the lush beauty that results when contemporary artists assign color decisions to chance, readymade source, or arbitrary system.”
In addition to the exhibit, the museum will also be offering special lectures and discussions in relation to the works in the show. So, grab your Explorer Pass and head on over to the Museum of Modern Art to experience the wonders of color.

Celebrate the upcoming spring season and get out there for ! From the world’s largest parade to authentic pubs serving up the best Irish brews, everyone can have a for the holiday, Irish or not.
To experience the true meaning of Saint Patty’s day in the city, the parade is a must-see. The largest parade marches right up 5th Avenue and generally attracts more than 100,000 participants. If you’d like a smaller celebration, all five boroughs have parades, so there’s certainly more to see.
To learn about the Irish heritage of the city, be sure and book a tour with Big Onion Walking Tours’ Irish New York. Get to know “Little Ireland’ on the Lower East Side and appreciate the impact that Irish immigrants had in making the city what it is today. Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, and the Irish Arts Center will also be offering themed concerts so you can get your fill of Irish tunes & entertainment.

Their choices are a bit out of the ordinary from what you might expect, but they’ve got plenty of good reasons for their choices. For NYC, they’ve included the Ellis Island Museum, saying “About 40 percent of Americans are descended from someone who immigrated through this station. Visiting is a powerful experience.” Ground Zero is also included on the list, encouraging families to visit and see the WTC Tribute Center.

While you’re in New York City, there’s a definite list of must-sees and . If it’s your second or third time visiting the city, perhaps you’re in the mood for something new and exciting.
Rick Bell, the head of the Center for Architecture, has put together a list of and it does not include the Empire State Building. He says, “Everybody knows what the Empire State Building looks like…” so he wanted to include some hidden gems that people might not find on their own.
His list includes the Conde Nast Building, known as the first “green” skyscraper, the Chrysler Building, a superb example of classic Art Deco design, and seemingly unlikely candidates like the Prada store and the SoHo location of Apple. If you’re looking for something inspiring in the city, Budget Travel has just published an article about .
Currently working on the special effects for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics, the exhibit at the Guggenheim focuses on two decades and eight major installations of his career. Entitled I Want to Believe, it includes nine cars suspended from the dome of the museum.
The article reads, “Suspended by cables, seven white Chevrolet Metro sedans are pierced with tubes of blinking yellow, red, green and blue lights to simulate the stages of a bomb explosion. They appear to be floating in mid-air as the cables aren’t very visible. An eighth car is parked in the lobby; the ninth car occupies the sixth floor”
If this exhibit is any indication, the ceremonies of the Olympics are going to be quite a show.
